Role3

The Sheriff

Talk about frustrating! Just when you wanted to relax and enjoy the beaches
you were in charge of patrolling, that report about the surfer being
attacked by a Great White Shark surfaced. It is up to you to determine if
this should be handled as a major incident or if it should be minimized.
Your job is to determine if it was indeed a fact, or just fiction, that
teenager's way to get his name in the headlines. First you need to
investigate the habitat, senses and diet of the Great White Shark so that
you can come to some intelligent conclusions. After your investigation and
knowledge base is increased, support your position of fact or fiction in a
diary type log that will stand up in court. You know you need to have the
facts about the shark listed, and any other important information you
discover in the process. Make sure to document everything you used for your
decision including a map of the area, and illustrations that are properly
labeled concerning the shark. Beware...sharks are out there and you have a
healthy respect for them.

Victim's Statement from Newspaper:

Statement that made the headline,"SHARK ATTACK" appear:

Read the following account given by the victim:

"I was swimming for fun and all of a sudden, it hit me from behind. NO, I
did not loose any flesh, but whatever it was, it was huge! I swam as fast
as I could back to my surfboard and paddled quickly to shore. No, I did not
see his dorsal fin, but that don't mean nothing! It was a shark I tell you,
a GREAT WHITE SHARK that nearly ate me up! You have to do something 'bout
that shark a'for he eats somebody else."
