| Your team's mission:
1. Use the planetary links on the Resource Page to gather the
following information for each planet (1 planet per group):
- Size of your planet
- Physical & Chemical make up of your planet (gas, rock, ice, etc.)
- Average temperature of your planet
- Average rotation of your planet around the sun
- Amount of gravity on your planet
- How many moons your planet has
- Any other intresting or important information about your planet
2. As a team, design and write a description of the type of equipment we
will need to get to your chosen planet and what types of equipment we
will need once we get there (i.e. rocketship, space suits, jet pack, etc.)
* Be sure to keep in mind the surface features of the planet and the
atmospheric information when designing the equipment. If there is no
solid surface on your planet, we will still need to be able to explore
the planet somehow.
Below are some helpful questions to help you design what we will need:
> How will we get there
> How long will the trip last
- how many days to get there
- how many days will we stay and explore
- how many days to get home
> What will we need to wear on the planet
> How will we explore the planet surface
> What information are we going to collect during exploration
> How will we record the information we collect
> How much food and water will we need to bring & how will it be stored
(answers to these questions will be included in your NSA presentation)
3. On a piece of poster board, your team will list the information gathered
about your chosen planet (in step 1) and include a picture of the planet.
Illustrate (draw) your equipment designs; include descriptions (what it
is, what it does, how fast it goes, the type of fuel it uses, etc.), how
each piece of equipment will be used, and why it is needed.
Include all the information gathered from step 2 in your illustrations
and descriptions.
Be sure to include any other interesting or important information that is
needed in order for our class to complete the fieldtrip. This information
will be given to the NSA (our classroom) in the form of a 3-5 minute
presentation. Every member of your group must participate in the
presentation.
